Reveal to me

The love of your life

Give me a dramatic pause

Then unfurl in whispers

And tantric giggles about

How ordinary it was,

Yet you were so lost

And I’ll sit there, gladly smiling askew

mouth and mind a fountain of regrets

All the while

Nodding to your ecstatic antics

Like a fool

The endless spark

Of magic in your eyes

Was an ongoing firecracker

That spread leagues upon leagues

Conflagration of feelings

That came out unbidden

While mine retreated,

A dud,

To your earnest whispered kisses

Your hopeful-lover’s name on lips

My tight-lipped smile that tried to give

But was short of filling in.
